Breakfast in the Triassic Period

I'm about 75% happy with this one. The kitchen scene is a little static/bland but at least it doesn't have that overly sparse feeling that my interiors usually seem to have. I was disappointed that I had to drop my initial choice of RETRO colors but things were a visual jumble with the blue dinosaur fighting against the teal and aqua cabinets and fridge. And speaking of colors, I'm less-than-thrilled at how overly busy things ended up with my willy-nilly application of textures on nearly every square inch. (the original jpg compression made them even muddier than the non-compressed original and a LOT more "dirt" is coming through as well...) I'm still trying to find a nice middle ground between hard edged shadows and textures and this sure ain't it. Not yet, anyway.

LATER. Since I posted the original version I went back and removed about 90% of the textures from the background surfaces and did some quickie painting in place of the textured brush approach and things look a lot less muddy and scabby.
